About Jason
Jason Rafalak, LCSW, MT-BC · Licensed Therapist in Pittsburgh, PA

I believe in destigmatizing therapy, and that everyone deserves support when faced with the inevitable challenges life throws at us. I don't believe in pathologizing neurodivergence, and strive to work with individuals to align their lives with their values and become their fully realized selves.
With over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health, nine of those years dedicated to working as a music therapist for individuals facing emotional and behavioral challenges, I have honed my skills in using eclectic methods, including music therapy, to process grief and trauma, depression, anxiety, and build self-esteem.
I have extensive experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, with a particular focus on neurodivergence. My areas of interest include autism and ADHD, which I have lived experience with.
I believe in meeting clients where they are as individuals and collaboratively creating a therapeutic space that is safe and healing. I also firmly believe that music can be a powerful tool to help individuals find their voice.
Outside of sessions, I love spending time with my family, playing and learning about music (I play upright and electric bass mainly), going for walks, playing games, and engaging in other various nerdy pursuits.
I want therapy to be a calm, safe, and regulating space where someone can feel comfortable being themself, share thoughts and feelings, and feel seen as they work toward their goals.
